Louisville Blackout Update

September 16th, 2008

Just an update to yesterday’s post regarding the Louisville power blackout, LG&E (Louisville Gas & Electric) released a statement today saying that power has been restored to a little over 120,000 Louisville residents, leaving 180,000 still in the dark.

My family and I are still without power, but I know many people who have had their restored. In light of Sunday’s events many people are purchasing power generators. A neighbor of mine drove for 2 hours and waited in line for 3 hours to purchase a generator the day after the blackout began.

Even in Louisville, many gas stations and grocery stores are running on electricity from generators. As well, many gas stations are running out of gas or have lines extending well out of the parking lot. Ice is also a scarce commodity. I stopped at 5 different locations yesterday – all of which were sold out.

LG&E is now predicting the power outages to continue for some Louisville residents for an another 10 days.

If you are just now looking to purchase a generator for future Buy Acomplia blackouts, you may be out of luck. Many area retailers who sell generators small enough for residential use are completely sold out. I found a great site that comes highly recommended by consumer reporting companies. Check it out if you are in need of a power generator, and consider making a purchase to be prepared for future blackouts.
